We Did It! We Made a Kid-Friendly Garden! You Can, Too!

At the 2018 Pennsylvania Early Childhood Education Summit, Nekia Rosada, Cheryl Moss (a Farm to ECE Champion Award recipient), and Michelle Smith presented a workshop on kid-friendly gardening in a preschool setting. Cheryl owns A Mother’s Touch Center for Child Development and shared her experiences with starting her garden, how she has sustained it, and ways she incorporates all aspects of her garden into learning experiences with the children in her center. Nekia and Michelle included information on how these practices help meet the Early Learning Standards in PA, followed by a time of Q&A from the attendees. The highlight was definitely hearing from Cheryl all of the good things that are coming out of having this garden to help engage children and their families in learning more about healthy eating and nutrition!
